When we first bought our house I was set on not having a TV in our bedroom. After a while I realized it was nice to relax with the hubs and watch a show. Sometimes he watched a show while I worked. It felt great to be together but have a little more time for working on My DIY Envy. At first we put a small TV on the dresser but I found this TV cabinet (for free) for the bedroom TV. It has extra storage and I love being able to hide the TV.
I was so excited to be chosen to participate in The Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest this month where D. Lawless Hardware is hosting a “Class It Up” themed furniture contest. They carry some of the top brands and have a cost match guarantee. They offered me $50 in product in order to complete this contest. They will also provide the winner with a prize package.
TV Cabinet Update with D. Lawless Hardware
The TV cabinet started out as a red stained color. It was beautiful but didn’t go with the other wood colors in our room. I knew I wanted to make it a little more neutral just in case we ever updated our bedroom furniture.
And after painting the hutch I needed to update the hardware too. The gold just isn’t my style. I wanted something that looked updated and classy but still had some of my farmhouse style.
I love the look of these brushed metal handles, they are the 4 inch Abella Pulls. I think the sleek black look will always be a classy touch.
The chippy paint is soldier blue milk paint. With milk paint you want to sand the spots you want the paint to stick to. I lightly sanded the entire surface and decided to be bold; I didn’t add the Extra Bond! When the paint started peeling I was scared, I wasn’t sure that’s the look I wanted. After the paint completely dries you just take a flat edge scrapper and take the peeling paint off. I completed the look with a coat of clear wax.
The combination of the chippy paint and the new hardware creates a fun industrial farmhouse style that I adore!
