What is your Farmhouse style?
Clean or Simple Traditional :)… is that a thing?
What are a few home decor items that help define your style?
Neutral walls, lots of white, weathered and pine wood furniture, cozy sofas and chairs, colorful pillows and rugs, baskets, chalkboards and quotes, fresh flowers and ball jars
Croquet balls in a basket? Genius! See more on her Farmhouse Summer Home Tour.
What home decor stores do you prefer to shop at?
Restoration hardware and pottery barn outlets and sales (I am a thrifty girl 🙂 also craigslist, thrift shops and the side of the road!
What suggestions do you have for others just starting out with this style?
Find pieces that you love and have history to them and display them. Keep the big things like walls and furniture neutral and cozy. Add color with accessories like pillows, rugs and flowers. Surround yourself with fun and meaningful quotes everywhere and plan your décor around family.
The farmhouse dining table that Tara refinished turned out great! She even tells you how she achieved this look.
What is your favorite part about decorating your home?
I think farmhouse style has a lot to do with decorating with your family and friends in mind. I love to decorate thinking about how we will live in the space. Big family dinners around our farmhouse table, pictures and homemade crafts that celebrate loved ones, cozy pillows and sofas for family movie nights, etc. My favorite part is turning this farmhouse into our home through our DIYS and decorating :).
Don’t miss Amy’s powder room makeover. I love all the little details and the wooden countertop!
What has been the hardest thing about decorating your home?
Being patient. I am the kind of person that imagines what our farmhouse will look like after we are done fixing it up. But there is a lot of painting, remodeling, decorating and gardening that needs to happen first. It’s hard for me to wait but every day and every change we make brings us that much closer to our dream for our farmhouse:).
