I thought it was space food. These crispy crunchy strawberry slices. My kids devoured them like candy but I wasn’t convinced. No way could eating a healthy snack be that easy! My family has been eating freeze dried foods over the past three years or so. We love the health benefits and that our kids ask for healthy snacks over the alternative. And it’s EASY. It took me maybe a minute to put together this strawberry popcorn mix.
Coming in at 100 calories, this popcorn snack mix contains 3 of my kids’ favorite snack foods.
We buy our freeze dried foods in bulk for food storage. Yep, we’re weird like that. I spend a small out amount each month to build up or own personal grocery store of sorts. But you can buy freeze-dried strawberries at Target now in the same isle with the snacks (like peanuts and raisins).
Freeze-dried fruit has a ton of flavor. You’re basically getting the concentrated version of the fruit. They make perfect on the go healthy snacks. But their flavor combined with Skinny Pop Popcorn and yogurt covered raisins this strawberry popcorn snack mix even better.
Strawberry Popcorn Snack Mix Recipe
What You Will Need:
- 1 cup Skinny Pop Popcorn (39 calories)
- 3-4 freeze dried strawberry slices (about 8 calories)
- 1 mini box of yogurt covered raisins (60 calories)
Smash freeze dried strawberry slices into powder with a fork, leaving a few bigger chunks. Combine with popcorn and raisins in a bowl. The powder will stick to the popcorn while the chunks will be fun little bursts of flavor.
So yes, it’s slightly over 100 calories but you can do a little less popcorn to make it that exact amount. It was so close I went with the 100 calories snack idea anyway.
