We have been in our home for 3 years now and married for 5. It takes time to acquire holiday decor to decorate your whole home. Start by focusing on one room or by adding simple touches of holiday decor. Each year add a new piece or two and before you know it you will be wondering where it all came from!
I like to keep it simple with holiday decor. One, I don’t like storing it and two, I am really in love with my every day decor so I don’t like to have holiday decor out for every holiday. I love Thanksgiving and Fall so I have some Fall decor.
A Simple Fall Home Tour
I love a good burlap wreath and I think it fits nicely with a Fall theme. You can find the tutorials I used for this wreath here. I hope to be able to change it up for other holidays too.
Another switch I make in my decor is with the fake flowers. This tin vase normally has white flowers in it but a quick and easy switch turns it into some Fall fun. I picked up 3 different sets of fall flowers from the Dollar Tree and use them every year.
The three ceramic pumpkins were also picked up at the Dollar Tree. I’ve had to move them to higher ground so they didn’t get smashed by my 1 year old pretending to be the hulk. Another reason I keep it simple, kids.
I love these little scarecrows! Sometimes I put them in my entryway but this year I decided to keep them in the living room. I picked them up at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago. A great time to pick up holiday decor is after the holiday is over. Hobby Lobby often has their holiday items marked down to 80% off by then!
I didn’t forget about my kitchen this year. I wanted to add a new touch to our new table. You can read more about the table here. I picked these fake pumpkins at the thrift store but later found them at Hobby Lobby. Don’t forget to pick them up after the season.
My goal in life is to have a cookie jar for every holiday. This cute pumpkin serves a double purpose for Halloween and Thanksgiving. I know, great goal right?! And the cute little sign is from the $1 section at Target!
I got this chalkboard banner for $1 at Target. I’m so excited to be able to switch it up for each holiday. During this time I like to remember all that I have to be thankful for.
And don’t forget to put the finishing touches on with a nice fall bouquet. I actually put this one together! (in a class so I had lots of help) You can see my tips for arranging flowers here.
