You may have noticed some changes in the last week. I tried to keep it subtle as to not disturb what I already had going on but now that most of the changes have happened I am too excited not to share. Mommy Envy is rebranding to My DIY Envy!
At the beginning of April I attended SNAP Conference. I had some goals in mind to work on and ask questions but my main goal was to make connections. I started making connections before the conference because this girl is no good at walking up to a group of people and introducing myself without being super awkward.
And I feel like I accomplished my goal of meeting new people. As a matter of fact we’ve even formed a tribe (in the blogging world that just means we team up and support each other). The gang is a little rowdy and a lot of fun. I’m so excited to share their work with you!
I also attended a rebranding class with Cori of Hey, Let’s Make Stuff. I’ve followed her rebrand story from the beginning. At the beginning of this year I created a new look and logo and thought I would be done. I attended her class partly to confirm I did everything I needed to and partly to confirm that I needed to change my blog’s name.
So why the rebrand?
I’m not a mommy blogger…
Yes, my audience is mainly moms looking for easy DIY projects and home decor ideas. When I talk about my blog to someone in person I get blank stares and they say “So you’re a mommy blogger?” Not that being a mommy is something to ignore but I am typically talking to other DIYers or brands in that area. I’m sure they are thinking I write about parenting tips and toddler activities and wondering how that can connect with a power drill. So the change happened for more clarity first.
If you’ve read my blog for a while, and even if you haven’t, you will know that I am posting less about my family and recipes. Easy DIY projects, home decor tips, and organization ideas are more my thing. Every time I posted a new DIY project I felt like I was neglecting the family aspect of my blog. I was feeling trapped in the corner, like I had to post about those things. When I did take the plunge and focused on the home I found I enjoyed blogging more and my family enjoyed me more. Win win!
This is what I am most excited about. Once I made the change official I felt like I could stretch out and it made me absolutely giddy. I have plans for branches of My DIY Envy. First up I will focus on home and DIY posts but I plan to branch into a few other DIY topics like DIY wedding ideas. I currently have an ebook but I have plans to bring you even more info through free downloads, a newsletter and maybe even a shop!
The rebrand also comes with rebranded pins. You will have to forgive me as I add the newly rebranded pins to my main board. You can follow along here:
