It’s a new year and time for me to buckle down on that list. You know the one. The one where I say I am going to do all these things better. Yes, resolutions. I’m not a huge fan of resolutions mainly because within a few months I forget what I even said I was going to do. Anybody with me? What I do love about the new year is that every January I get the itch to declutter and organize the home. A nesting phase for the new year! And even if it fizzles out in a couple of months or even a couple of weeks it’s ok because I am one step slower to a more organized home. If you declutter first you shouldn’t need to bring in too many new organizing products but here are a few I love and a couple I want to try.

Let’s start with the organizing products I already know and love. Evening organizing your home isn’t top priority right now these are things you should grab now and have on hand when you get the bug. Because from experience I can tell you once you get going it’s like a tornado moving from room to room.
Organizing products I like to have on hand…
This first one might seem weird. But I use them for more than organizing things in the kitchen. With kids especially, I love using ziplock bags to organize little pieces from toys and games. Ziplock bags are also great for organizing crafts and office supplies. Plus they are great to have on hand to grab a snack for the kids.
I love having larger bins and baskets for things we use on a daily basis in any room. For example, in the living room I havve a wooden crate for blankets and a bin like this one for toys. This way the kids have a set of toys they play with daily available and they don’t have to dump toys from the toy room. It also helps if you like to rotate your kids’ toys.
But let’s talk about bins a bit more. We have IKEA shelving so we love having square bins with a handle. I found some decorative ones at WalMart but this price is hard to beat…
Do you have a “junk” drawer? As much as I want to get rid of it I just can’t. I like to call it a catch-all drawer. To make sure you just keep things in there you need to access quickly make sure it stays organized with one of these! These drawer organizers are great in bathroom drawers and desk drawers too.
Now on to the things I want to get to organize my home this year…
These rubber twist ties would be perfect for storing electronics cords! Or if you are wanting to hide cords by binding them together. You can even use them to make a little stand for your phone… I’m really excited about getting these!
Also on my list is this magnetic dry erase calendar. The hubs and I often sync events on our phone calendars but I think our week and month would be better organized with this calendar. And I think it will help with other things. It’s one thing to say you will go on a date every Friday but it’s better to write it down and make a plan.
And these are perfect for organizing crafty things but my mom had these for our HotWheels! It fit a ton of cars and the lids didn’t open like the car garage organizers normally do. We never had cars dump out when we toted them around. We used to buy them in the crafts section of WalMart but then they disappeared. So happy to have found them again.
So do you get excited to organize your home at the beginning of the year? In previous years I get started and then it fizzles out because I don’t have the supplies I need to organize a room in the house. Then time goes by and I forget. So my suggestion is to make a plan, pick a room, and get the supplies you need. Otherwise, you will let your drive slip.
